Why Do You Wear Em?
MJ's, A.J's, J.O.'s, Mikes
They go by many names but its all the same shoe. So why do you wear em?
Some wear them because there are in style [for what ever period of time]. Some because they cost more than the average sneaker. Some cop and don't even rock em, they're are just simply collectors advancing their investments.
For what ever reason you copped your Jordans, it doesn't effect me much... nahh. I mean, why wouldn't you? they're fly. And now that sneaker culture is like its own little cult, Fresh Mikes are popping up everywhere. In all facets of life. From newborns to old heads, from thugs to dimes, from homies on the block to businessmen on the train, Everybody got J's Now-a-days. But the question is "why do you wear em?"
Well, I don't know about yall, but I know. The reason why I wear em goes a lil past sneakers. Its the same reason that on a Sunday afternoon I wouldn't be outside playing manhunt, but inside watching the NBC. Its the same reason that after all those Bulls vs. Knicks playoff series I was the only one in my house with a smile on his face when the game was done. Its the same reason that I rocked a Nike wristband on my left forearm on and off the court. Its the same reason why I was in my room 1a.m. working on my game winning fade-away. Yah see fam, I rock Jorans, cause I love Jordan.
Its as simple as that. I rock Jordans because when I played ball in Jorans I played better [Fuck whatchu heard]. With MJ's there was always just a lil more lift in the jumper, just a lil more rotation on the ball, just a lil more hang time on that double-pump up-and-under. Thats the reason why i skipped all those lunches in school and shoved all those snowy driveways in the Winter. Because I knew that in two weeks I needed to have $125.00 as I stood outside of Modells that Saturday morning so that I could have my fresh Mikes ready for Monday in school. [I had to rock em asap because i knew that in a week or too they would be creased up and covered in dirty sweat, fresh from the local basketball court].
I didn't rock em because they were "cool". I didn't rock em cuz the shorties dug niggas with fresh kicks. i didn't rock em to show that I had cash to spurge on a 150+ pair of kicks. I can't front, because its always nice to hear "Yo Fam, Where You Get Those?" [But that was just a perk]. Because I rocked em because as a kick I couldn't afford em. I rock em because in the III's MJ took off from the freethrow line, and in the V's he finally got past Detroit, and in the XIV's he hit that shot against the Jazz. Nigga I rock em cause they look good!
